Food Security
Many Moss Park community members experience food insecurity. Below is a list of local organizations
that offer free or low cost food banks and meal programs. Please read the list carefully, some programs are
limited to certain catchment areas, require appoints or preregistration, or only only operate seasonally.

Building Roots – Saturday Pay-What-You-Can Fruit and Vegetable Market, Moss Park Apartments
Building Roots is a local Moss Park organization that works to support the Moss Park community. They
have weekly pay-what-you-can fruit & vegetable market from the storage containers on the lawn of the
Moss Park Apartments. The market will reopen in September, and will be serving registered community
members in the Moss Park catchment area. See the link below for more details.

Dixon Hall – Our Fair Share Farmers Market – Sept 12 & 26, 3pm, at 190 Carlton St (inside at 188
Carlton in case of rain)
This pay-what-you-choose farmers market at Dixon Hall offers community members with a chance to get
delicious healthy food for as little as $5. The market also offers some fun social activities. Please see the

Little Trinity Good Food Market – Wednesdays, 5pm-7pm, 425 King St E
This market runs every Wednesday evening, offers good food at low prices, and has pricing model that
allows community members to access fresh food at no cost. Please see the link below for more details.

Fred Victor – Friends Restaurant - Weekdays from 10am-11:30am, 4pm-5:30pm, 145 Queen St E
The Friends Restaurant at Fred Victor offers low cost lunch ($1.50), and dinner ($2.50), to community

Allan Gardens Food Bank – Thursdays & Fridays, 12:30pm-3pm, 353 Sherbourne St
The Allan Gardens Food Bank serves community members living in within the following catchment area:
Yonge St to River St, Bloor St to Shuter St. Please see the link below for more information, you will need

Yonge Street Mission
The YSM runs a food bank program out of their location at 270 Gerrard St E. You need to book an
appointment with them to access the program. You can do that and find more details by clicking on the link below.

Metropolitan United Church – Summer & Winter Meals Program – 56 Queen St E
The Metropolitan United Church offer free meals to community members in with different programs in
